Attention to the “special military operation” is gradually beginning to dull. At the same time, the majority of respondents demonstrate concern about what is happening. Support for the actions of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine remains high, but compared to March it has slightly decreased. The majority of respondents hold NATO countries responsible for the destruction in Ukraine and the death of civilians.

Religiosity
The majority of respondents consider themselves to be Orthodox Christians, 15% do not consider themselves to be of any religion. More than half of Russians consider themselves religious. Respondents’ belief in the supernatural (life after death, religious miracles, the evil eye) remains a common phenomenon.
International relations
In March, there was a sharp deterioration in attitudes towards Western countries. An increase in negative assessments of the US and the EU has been recorded. The attitude towards Ukraine has hardly changed in March. Attitudes towards China have significantly improved.
Internet, social networks and VPN
68% of respondents access the Internet every day, the growth of users is observed in all age groups, except for respondents aged 18-24. Nevertheless, for most, television remains the main source of information. Over the past month, more than a quarter of respondents have faced the inability to access familiar digital services. About a quarter of all respondents use VPN services, in the group of 18-24 years – half.
Protests
Most Russians have somehow heard about street protests against the “special operation” in Ukraine. The youngest respondents and readers of Telegram channels and online publications are most aware of this. There is no clear understanding of the motives of the protesters in society.
Sanctions
Concern about Western sanctions against Russia increased significantly in March: they worry almost half of the respondents. Two-thirds of respondents believe that sanctions directly affect broad segments of the population. About a third say that sanctions have already created problems for them personally and their families.
The conflict with Ukraine
64% of Russians closely monitor the situation around Ukraine. 81% of respondents support the actions of the Russian armed forces in Ukraine. The dominant feelings among Russians caused by military actions in Ukraine are “pride for Russia” (51%), “anxiety, fear, horror” (31%), “shock” (12%).
Approval of institutions, ratings of parties and politicians
In March, the approval of the main state institutions increased significantly: 83% approve of the activities of the president, 71% approve of the Prime Minister, 70% approve of the government, 59% approve of the State Duma. The share of those who believe that things are going in the right direction in the country has sharply increased. The rating of United Russia reached 54% (of those who decided on the choice), the indicators of other parties have not changed significantly.
Survey of retail investors in March 2022: sentiment on the eve of the opening of the stock market
The conducted survey of retail investor sentiment shows a sharp decline of optimism about the future and their own financial situation. Confidence that their personal financial situation will improve has been decreasing throughout the year, but the current drop was especially dramatic: the number of those who expect their finances to improve this year has dropped from 44% in October 2021 to 13% in March 2022.
Coronavirus and personal contacts
From November 2021 to February 2022, the proportion of those who are not afraid of contracting coronavirus has increased markedly – 66%. The number of Russians who have been vaccinated continues to grow and in February reached half of the country’s population. More than a third of those who were vaccinated were revaccinated. Half of Russians are concerned about the possibility of getting infected themselves or infecting others through touching and kissing; 45% of Russians try to limit physical contact with other people.
