A sense of responsibility and the ability to influence the situation

Russians feel more responsibility and their ability to influence what is happening in their family, to a lesser extent — what is happening in the country. The sense of responsibility and the sense of being able to influence what is happening in the country and the city has been slowly growing in recent years.

Most of all, Russians feel responsible for what happens in the family: 90% feel fully or significantly responsible. 57% and 54%, respectively, feel responsible for what is happening in the house or in the yard, as well as at work. Another 39% say they are responsible for the situation in the city or district, about the same number — 37% – for what is happening in the country.

Among certain groups, respondents aged 25-39, the wealthiest respondents (those who can afford durable goods) and those who believe that things are going in the right direction in the country feel the greatest responsibility for what is happening in all categories.

Compared to October 2021, the indicators of perceived responsibility have changed mainly in relation to events concerning the whole country. In the fall of 2021 57% of respondents felt responsible to some extent for the events in the country, at the end of 2022 – 64%. The remaining indicators remain fairly stable.

Similarly, Russians are more likely to believe that they can completely or significantly influence what is happening in the family — 83%. Least of all — on what is happening in the country – 19%. The youngest respondents – 18-24 years old and 25-39 years old, as well as the most affluent respondents and those who believe that things are going in the right direction in the country – see the greatest opportunity for their own influence on the course of processes in different categories.

Compared to October 2021, estimates of their own impact on the situation in the country and the city/district have increased. In the fall of 2021, half of the respondents spoke about the possibility of their own influence on the situation in the city or district, and at the end of last year 60% did.

2.9% for indicators around 25%/75%

2.0% for indicators around 10%/90%

1.5% for indicators around 5%/95%
