From November 2021 to February 2022, the proportion of those who are not afraid of contracting coronavirus has increased markedly – 66%. The number of Russians who have been vaccinated continues to grow and in February reached half of the country’s population. More than a third of those who were vaccinated were revaccinated. Half of Russians are concerned about the possibility of getting infected themselves or infecting others through touching and kissing; 45% of Russians try to limit physical contact with other people.
In February, 66% of Russians were not afraid of contracting coronavirus, about a third (32%) were afraid. Back in November 2021, the share of those who were not afraid was slightly more than half (53%) of respondents, those who were afraid – 45%. This ratio has remained almost unchanged since February 2021.
The number of Russians who have been vaccinated continues to grow and in February reached half of the country’s population. The proportion of those who are not ready to be vaccinated has hardly changed since November 2021 and reached 35% in February.
In February, 44% of Russians were ready to get revaccinated, 15% were not ready, 39% had already done it. The biggest revaccinated group is people 55 years and older – 46%, the least revaccinated group is younger people – 29%.
According to the survey results, 45% of Russians restricted handshakes, hugs with other people, 54% did not do this. Respondents 55 years and older restricted physical contacts the most (56% restricted, 43% did not limit), respondents 18-24 years old – the least (34% restricted, 64% did not limit).
About half (49%) of Russians are concerned about the possibility of getting infected themselves or infecting others through touching and kissing. The respondents of the oldest age group are the most anxious about this issue: 59% of them are worried about it, 38% are not worried.
METHODOLOGY
The survey by the Levada Center was conducted January 17 – February 21 2022, among a representative sample of all Russian urban and rural residents. The sample was comprised of 1618 people aged 18 or older in 137 municipalities of 50 regions of the Russian Federation. The survey was conducted as a personal interview in respondents’ homes. The answer distribution is presented as percentages of the total number of participants along with data from previous surveys.
The statistical error of these studies for a sample of 1600 people (with a probability of 0.95) does not exceed:
3.4% for indicators around 50%
2.9% for indicators around 25%/75%
2.0% for indicators around 10%/90%
1.5% for indicators around 5%/95%
