Most Russians (77%) are aware of the restrictions on air travel to Turkey. 3% of respondents noted that this restriction has affected them personally to some degree. 23% of Russians have not heard anything about the restrictions.
Half of Russians (49%) support restrictions on air travel with Turkey, one-third (34%) do not. Another 17% found it difficult to answer.
Representatives of older age groups of Russians support this decision to a greater extent. Among respondents aged 55 and older, 64% of respondents had a positive attitude to limiting air travel, while 22% disapproved. Among respondents of 18-24 years old 30% approve of the decision, and 54% disapprove.
Television viewers and radio listeners support the restrictions to a greater extent: 60% and 63%, respectively. Readers of new media support the restrictions to a lesser extent: among readers of social networks 37% support 51% – do not support.
44% of Russians believe that the reason for the restrictions on air travel is to protect citizens from the coronavirus infection. 41% believe that the reason is political – a desire to punish Turkey for its support of Ukraine.
The point of view about an “epidemiological” cause is more popular among representatives of older age groups: 50% among respondents aged 55 and older. The point of view about “political” reasons for the restriction is more popular among younger groups of respondents: 44% among respondents 18-24 years old and 47% among respondents 25-39 years old.
This survey was conducted April 22 – 28 2021, among a representative sample of all Russian urban and rural residents. The sample was comprised of 1614 people aged 18 or older in 137 municipalities of 50 regions of the Russian Federation. The survey was conducted as a personal interview in respondents’ homes. The answer distribution is presented as percentages of the total number of participants along with data from previous surveys.
The statistical error of these studies for a sample of 1600 people (with a probability of 0.95) does not exceed:
3.4% for indicators around 50%
2.9% for indicators around 25%/75%
2.0% for indicators around 10%/90%
1.5% for indicators around 5%/95%
